TotalBoat Underdog is a dependable, solvent-based, single-season antifouling bottom paint that provides outstanding protection against barnacles and other antifouling pests, at a very affordable price, and in all water conditions. Ablative technology allows the surface to polish away over time, minimizing paint build-up and releasing fresh layers of biocide as the season progresses. This ablative action works most effectively on boats that are used on a regular basis. Underdog's durable finish also stands up well to scrapes from beaching and trailering.
It has excellent adhesion on fiberglass, wood, steel, iron and most existing bottom paints that are in good condition.
Sold in Gallons, in Black, Red, or Blue.
Each order includes a free roller & metal tray kit, paint suit, abrasive pad, 1 roll of painter's masking tape, & two 10" stir sticks (a $10 value!).

I've used a few different brands of antifouling paint. I've had the best results from total boats underdog. Even being a "single season" paint I've been able to get multiple seasons from it with minor touch ups. Going to continue using it on my boat!

We needed to barrier coat and bottom paint our forty-year-old 36-foot trawler in one day and we chose TotalProtect two-part and this. NOTE: There was a small issue with shipping - too big of a container and the two cans weren't packed very well - wrapped in a plastic bag with some kraft paper stuff - so there was some leakage and fairly significant denting - but the leakage was minimal and I boxed the two gallons into a single bucket - no harm no foul. It's gotten very hot where we are in southwest FL, so we knew it was going to be a race once we got started. At dawn we were wiping and taping and about an hour and a half later, I boxed the two gallons of ablative and then mixed the first gallon of barrier coat. Let it sit twenty minutes, thinned it 10%, and started applying as soon as the thinner was mixed well. Ultimately, we started at the starboard bow and worked our way back, then up the port side to the port bow and then around again. We ran out of barrier coat about 2/3 of the way up the port side, so we mixed another batch and continued around for two full coats - admittedly a little thinner on the second one. The weather cooperated and the timing was perfect as we started the second coat the first was thumbprint tacky. As luck would have it, the second coat was also thumbprint tacky once we got back around to the port bow and we were able to immediately start the ablative application. I did NOT thin the ablative and it went on much thicker - but also easier. With two of us working - one cutting and one rolling, switching out roles several times, we were able to do the entire bottom in about three hours. And she looks amazing.

I just painted my boat with TB and am pleased with the application and color. The test will be to see how well it holds up when Autumn comes.

Its my first time with this paint, so we'll see how it wears. It went on well for the most part. Certain areas required a second coat once the first coat tacked up. The foam brushes that come with the paint are useless, but that was anticipated.

I was recommended this product and I could not happier. As it was my first time doing a bottom on a boat I did not know what to expect. All in all, the product went on very well. Coverage was excellent. I would use again.
